Why old links fail (or worse, still "work")
Lagos Life launched on 1 October 2026 at an address built on a website-builder subdomain — lagoslife.eliysites.com (written out deliberately as plain text: we do not link to the old address). Within days the game announced its proper home at lagoslife.app, and the creator confirmed two things in the same breath: the new address is official, and existing accounts carry over.
The internet has not caught up. TikTok clips, tweets, WhatsApp forwards and early news articles still point at the old subdomain, which is why "Lagos Life game link" is such a common search — players sensibly want to know which of the addresses flying around is the real one. The rule is simple: lagoslife.app is the official link; everything else is either legacy or an impersonator. If a site that is not the official domain asks for your password, it is not hosting the game — it is harvesting logins.
What happened to accounts during the move
Per the creator's own announcement, the domain change was a move, not a wipe: usernames, passwords and city progress carried over to lagoslife.app. Two practical notes from the official policy worth knowing here:
- The login cookie is domain-bound. The game keeps you signed in with a first-party cookie (
ll_session); after a domain move you may simply need to log in once on the new address. - Password resets go by email. Accounts created without the optional email address cannot use the reset flow — if that is you and the password is forgotten, there is no public recovery route. Add the email.
If logging in fails repeatedly on the correct domain, the cause is nearly always cookie blocking or a private-browsing window — the login & session fixes section walks through it.
When the official link won't open at all
A link can be correct and still not load. In Lagos Life's first week the usual suspects have been, in order of frequency:
- Server load. A million players in four days means genuine incident hours; waiting and retrying is a legitimate fix.
- In-app browsers. Opening the game from Instagram or TikTok's built-in browser is the classic culprit for blank pages — reopen it in a plain Safari or Chrome tab.
- Stale cache. A hard refresh (Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+R) after big updates clears old assets.
- Network filtering. School and office networks sometimes block browser games outright; nothing on our end bypasses that, by design.
The full symptom-by-symptom table lives in our how-to-play troubleshooting guide, and the video walkthroughs show what a healthy first load looks like so you can tell "broken" from "busy".
Bookmark the right door
Two doors lead to the same official game: lagoslife.app directly, or our play page, which opens the official game in its own tab and keeps our map and jobs guides one switch away while you play. New around here? The beginner guide is the four-step version of "what do I actually do first?"
