Amala Shitta in Lagos Life

The food pilgrimage — a Surulere landmark turned in-game institution, and the kitchen the Chef career calls home. What to do there, what it costs to reach, and what eating well actually does for your Sim.

What Amala Shitta is

Amala Shitta sits in the Food & Shopping category of the Lagos Life map, in Surulere on the mainland. It is the game's loving import of a real Lagos legend: an amala spot in the Shitta part of Surulere so beloved that naming it alone is a food recommendation. Amala — a dark, silky yam-flour swallow eaten with peppery soups — is comfort food with a hometown crowd, and the game treats the place accordingly: not a generic "restaurant" asset, but the place to "chop" (eat) local, listed on the official tagline right beside riding danfo and surviving NEPA.

What you do there

Eat. Hunger is the second-fastest draining need in the game (5.5 points an hour), and fixing it cheaply is a real skill — party jollof, for instance, runs ₦1,500 elsewhere. Eating at the source is the move the city would want you to make. Cook — professionally. Amala Shitta is the base of the Chef career, with kitchen shifts Monday to Saturday, 8am to 4pm, and a five-rank ladder:

RankPay per shift
1. Dishwasher₦7,400
2. Line Cook₦15,000
3. Sous Chef₦26,500
4. Head Chef₦42,000
5. Celebrity Chef₦70,500

The career trains the Cooking skill; promotions follow the standard rules (full performance meter plus the next rank's skill level) and a perfect shift pays a 15% bonus. Full mechanics live in the money & jobs guide.

How to get there

From anywhere in the city: open the map, tap Amala Shitta, ride. Community guides put a standard trip at ₦150 — the danfo system, flavour and fare included, is documented in our transport guide. Coming to work? The kitchen window is 8am–4pm, Mon–Sat, and the work action only exists inside it; one shift per in-game day, about one real hour.

What it does for you

  • The gentlest career door in the game. No skill gate, no application puzzle — a brand-new Sim can be washing dishes tomorrow morning.
  • Daytime hours, free evenings. Done by 4pm, every evening open for the Shrine, the Beach or a night at Quilox — the mirror image of the DJ schedule.
  • Foodie-trait heaven. The trait makes Cooking grow faster and food more enjoyable; the trait table rates it a natural pairing.
  • Cultural currency. In a city of players who know the reference, being the Sim who eats where Lagos actually eats is its own small status.

The other twenty-nine places are on the map & locations hub, and the kitchen itself is open in the official game or via our play page.

Frequently asked questions

What can you do at Amala Shitta in Lagos Life?
Eat — it is the game's signature "chop" spot, named for the famous Surulere amala joint — and, if you take the Chef career, work: the kitchen runs shifts Monday to Saturday, 8am to 4pm, from Dishwasher up to Celebrity Chef. Exact menu and prices: [待补:Amala Shitta 菜单与价格].
Is the Chef career at Amala Shitta good?
It is the friendliest cooking-themed ladder in the game: no application gate, entry pay of ₦7,400 a shift climbing to ₦70,500 as a Celebrity Chef, daytime hours (8am–4pm, Mon–Sat) that leave your evenings free for the city's nightlife, and it trains the Cooking skill — which the Foodie trait accelerates. Mid-table on pay, top-table on lifestyle.
Why is it called Amala Shitta?
After the real thing: an amala joint in Surulere, mainland Lagos, so famous it is effectively a landmark — locals will tell you the queue is part of the flavour. Amala itself is a yam-flour swallow eaten with soups; "Shitta" is the Surulere neighbourhood. The game borrows the name and the reverence wholesale, the way it does with Quilox and every other real Lagos reference on the map.
Where is Amala Shitta on the map?
In the Food & Shopping group — tap it on the city map and travel there (about ₦150 a trip per community guides). If you are coming to work a shift, arrive inside the 8am–4pm window, Mon–Sat. The danfo guide covers the commuting details.
