The housing ladder
Lagos Life prices housing the way Lagos does: by postcode. There are six known tiers — four rented weekly, two bought outright — plus the furnished Lekki flat Nepo Babies start in. All figures below are community-guide readings from the game, 4–6 October 2026 (sources at the foot of the page; the game rebalances fast — see our updates page for dated changes).
| Home | Area | Cost | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| UNILAG hall bed | Akoka | ₦1,200 / week | The student option — cheapest roof in the game |
| Face-me-I-face-you | Mushin | ₦2,400 / week | The classic starter room; smallest obligation while you learn |
| Self-contain | Yaba | ₦6,000 / week | Your own four walls, tech-bro district rates |
| Mini-flat | Lekki Phase 1 | ₦17,000 / week | Island living; also where Nepo Babies start, rent paid |
| Duplex | Ikoyi | ₦250,000 one-time | Outright purchase — old-money postcode, no more Saturdays |
| Mansion | Banana Island | ₦1,500,000 one-time | The top of the ladder; the flex that ends rent forever |
The Saturday rule
Rent is charged every Saturday, automatically, whether you are ready or not. It is the game's one true deadline, and it reframes everything else: a career is not "what pays most per shift" but "what pays most per shift reliably before Saturday". The standing advice — keep one full week's rent untouched at all times — exists because a single missed Saturday compounds into a bad week, and a bad week in Lagos Life is expensive.
Buying outright (Ikoyi or Banana Island) is the only way off the Saturday treadmill — which is why those price tags are the game's real long-term goals, sitting alongside businesses and land in the capital ladder.
What your start gives you
The birth lottery decides your opening position (permanently — no re-roll). Nepo Babies wake up in a furnished Lekki mini-flat with rent paid, a car, ₦500,000 and a Branch Manager job: no Saturday anxiety for a while. LAPO Babies carry a ₦60,000 loan repaid at ₦12,000 a week on top of rent — for them the cheap Mushin or UNILAG room is not modesty, it is survival. Both starts are playable; only one of them teaches money.
House upgrades, and what we are still verifying
The creator shipped house upgrades among the first-week features (announced alongside jail and more job options — dated on our updates timeline). What each upgrade tier costs and changes: [待补:房屋升级档位与效果] — the numbers are not yet reliably published, and this site does not invent them. Interior items, meanwhile, are priced and real: a foam mattress ₦1,800, a fridge ₦13,200 — and a fridge needs power, power means a generator, a generator needs fuel. The appliance trap is documented in the money guide's spending section.
The sensible climb
- Start at ₦1,200–₦2,400/week (UNILAG or Mushin). Your only goal: never miss a Saturday.
- Upgrade when rent stops mattering — roughly when weekly income passes 10× your rent, not the day you can technically afford one nice week.
- Buy, don't keep climbing rentals. The jump from renting to the ₦250,000 Ikoyi duplex ends rent permanently; every extra week of Lekki rent past that point is money handed to a landlord you could have escaped.
- Banana Island last. ₦1,500,000 is endgame flex money — after businesses, land and the calculator says you'll never feel it.
House-hunting happens in the official game itself — the city map lists around 400 homes — or through our play page with the guides one tab away. New players should pair this page with the beginner plan and the skills & traits guide — income, not luck, decides your postcode.
